It is that time of year again where many businesses are posting their new Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) Certificates. If you happen to conduct business in the State of Ohio, you may be missing out on a program that could save you 3% annually on your Worker’s Compensation premiums.
Ohio BWC offers a Safety Council Rebate Program as an opportunity for employers to save on their annual premiums. “Where do I sign up”, many of you may ask?! The process is simple, follow the link to see where a local council is located (Safety Council Locations) and get signed up by July 31 with your local council. You are then required to attend 10 meetings which are sponsored by councils, BWC, or industry associations. Safety trainings conducted at your workplace or virtually do not count toward your meeting count, however.
The added benefit of this program is that most attendees are local to your community and attendance can lend to making connections that you may not have otherwise. Speakers and topics are robust in nature covering everything from active shooter training to standards-based programs like LOTO. Every year we at URS have the privilege of leading at least one of these training classes where we can give back to the community we serve. In short, don’t sleep on this program if you live in Ohio!
